Patriotic fight

Finding good people that currently are in the countries that are exploited. The good people there have ideas, but are not able to implement. My uncle was a diplomat & wrote a book on the great resources in his country (Cote d'Ivoire) but that they (all people in whole process) are exploited & sold out to France. They are still treated like a colony.

Ideas to Help End Labor Trafficking

Thank you for the opportunity to share ideas to help end labor trafficking. My suggestion is to create and/or expand an outreach and education program that helps increase awareness of this issue and educates the community to identify and report working conditions anonymously. Key areas of a robust outreach and education program can include:

Train DOL field personnel in OSHA, WHD, and other departments to identify and... more »

Take away the means of human traffickers and support workers

Take away the means human traffickers are using, punish those who do the human trafficking, and help the victims of trafficking to get what they need. It's like fighting a fire that is trying to consume your house and loved ones. If we can shut off the abuse of local citizens it will help in shutting the pipeline of foreign victims.

First off change employment law so that so that if you quit or get fired the employee... more »

CME-credit TIP training for health professionals

The Christian Medical Association offers a 10-module training program for health professionals on trafficking in persons (TIP); the program carries up to 10 credits of Continuing Medical Education (CME), which physicians require for continued professional practice. The modules cover both domestic and international TIP, the identification and medical evaluation of labor trafficking, physical, mental health and spiritual... more »

Public private partnerships to stop Labor Trafficing

First of all thank you for including us in your dialogue. I am a philanthropist in the Jewish non profit world, and serve on many of the traditional and non traditional Boards. My idea comes from both the woman's funding and traditional funding sectors. Faith based organizations are a perfect fit for this type of initiative on many fronts. They are part of large established networks of diverse people and committees, most... more »

Job Training Program and Referral System

Help: Create training programs for survivors. Individuals can be enrolled in regardless of faith affiliation and would get a say in which program they are enrolled in within a given geographic area (ex. List their top 3 programs). Build in a job-referral system with a help of members of that faith community (i.e. networking!). The program obviously would need to be conducted by individuals who have completed trauma-informed... more »

Partnership with places of worship

Places of worship can be great partners in reaching out to vulnerable workers. Many vulnerable workers, especially those in immigrant communities rely on their places of worship. Churches, temples, mosques, gurdwaras, etc..., can be "the community" that the traffickers will seek to remove from the victim as part of the grooming/conditioning process. By letting the vulnerable parishioners know they have a community that... more »

Increase Your Reach

Don't limit your focus to faith-based organizations. Some of the organizations most connected to those at high risk of abuse and exploitation in the workplace are community-based but not faith-based organizations. Do not ignore cultural communities, LGBTQ organizations, immigrant support networks, and other grassroots organizations.

Punish the human Trafficker's and those who help them

Punish those who human traffic others. Asking the right questions can get us to the solutions. First question. What are the penalties for human trafficking? Second question is, who is enabling the trafficking?

The federal government can send Seal team 6 into Africa to save a few hostages. So, the police should save the people being human trafficked on the streets of America. It's estimated 300,000 underage children are... more »

Help with basic needs and liberty

Help the victims with basic support to get over the trafficking they went through. I have seen camp grounds, state parks, and RV parks that would be an ideal place to recover. Clean air, clean water, beautiful sights and sounds to rebuild the person. Have a few persons who have healed from the abuse to help the others get through. Could be combined with helping animals. Anything people need to get skills or education... more »

Documentation

We had an employee get hired to start working, but then told they could not work because of his documentation. Since we are a government contractor, we must follow more stringent guidelines for our labor force. However, in this case, we had to turn someone away because they did not have legal documentation. Somehow he made his way to VA from S./C. America. He spoke very limited English. I recommend having a way to get... more »

Education in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights trending idea

Youth and adults should learn the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, so they know their rights everywhere. If more people knew their rights - and knew others rights - maybe they would be able to stand up for their rights better and they might not fall prey to labor trafficking. It's not the total solution, but if people know their rights, it can make a big difference.

There should be no statue of limitations trending idea

Because of deadlines and distance, I was never paid after working my butt for a year with no pay when I lived in California. Even though the deputy handling my case said I could do hearing by phone, my case was still dismissed. So, I tried to file federally, time had run out. California DOV took longer than it should have. Their reason was too many cases... Not my fault, I am a matur to a desterved system. My employer... more »
