ETA and State Efforts to Educate Farmworkers and Ag Employers

Add to already mandatory training

Instead of making a separate training, add a policy to the already mandatory sexual harrasment: 1 hour employee training every 2 years and 2 hour supervisor annual training. Also, the state should provide an emergency assistance plan to remove employees who report trafficking to a safe environment immediatly. Also, a response team dedicated to providing safety to those that report anonymously, on behalf of victims, or... more »

WHD Ensuring Proper Wages in the Workplace

Work with DoS to Protect J-1 Visa Holders from Trafficking

DOL should work to protect J-1 visa holders from trafficking and exploitation. This should be done through cooperation with DOS on pre-departure training, consistent and timely investigations and screening of all host programs, reliable reporting resources for complaints, and more. In our experience, the J-1 program can be valuable; however, it involves significant opportunity for exploitation where participants—who have... more »

Public private partnerships to stop Labor Trafficing

First of all thank you for including us in your dialogue. I am a philanthropist in the Jewish non profit world, and serve on many of the traditional and non traditional Boards. My idea comes from both the woman's funding and traditional funding sectors. Faith based organizations are a perfect fit for this type of initiative on many fronts. They are part of large established networks of diverse people and committees, most... more »

Partnership with places of worship

Places of worship can be great partners in reaching out to vulnerable workers. Many vulnerable workers, especially those in immigrant communities rely on their places of worship. Churches, temples, mosques, gurdwaras, etc..., can be "the community" that the traffickers will seek to remove from the victim as part of the grooming/conditioning process. By letting the vulnerable parishioners know they have a community that... more »

CFOI Supports Faith-Based Organizations to Help End Labor Trafficking

Increase Your Reach

Don't limit your focus to faith-based organizations. Some of the organizations most connected to those at high risk of abuse and exploitation in the workplace are community-based but not faith-based organizations. Do not ignore cultural communities, LGBTQ organizations, immigrant support networks, and other grassroots organizations.

Partner with Child Welfare

Youth in the child welfare system are at increased risk of trafficking, but few talk about child labor trafficking. Partner with HHS and the EEOC to provide training and resources to organizations, families, and youth in the child welfare system so that they understand their rights as workers and how and where to report labor violations. Bring child labor trafficking out of the shadows.

Patriotic fight

Finding good people that currently are in the countries that are exploited. The good people there have ideas, but are not able to implement. My uncle was a diplomat & wrote a book on the great resources in his country (Cote d'Ivoire) but that they (all people in whole process) are exploited & sold out to France. They are still treated like a colony.

WHD Ensuring Proper Wages in the Workplace

Proper Training of Employers - LEAN / 6 SIGMA

When I was in manufacturing we competed against China and US Based companies with Undocumented Laborers / Labor Trafficking Victims. Both groups had wage rates well below our legal operating wage rates. In fact we were known in the area as one of the top paying employers, paying every employee a living wage.

What set us apart was engaging our employees in training and education on how to constantly review and improve... more »
